i once again attended the western maryland scenic railroad photo charter run by carl franz. this year i was able to get to the cumberland region a day early and do some other railfaning, and i also only did 2 days of the charter, fridady, 1/10/13 and saturday 1/11/13. this was due to the long drive home and how fatigued i was last year after attending sunday half day and driving home.

i like the friday charter, even though it is a shorter day, you have a much smaller group so more runbys get made and you can do them at locations that cannot hold a larger crowd
so with much of the sand patch area not able to be railfanned due to winter road conditions i hustled on up the road to cassandra pa, where they have a footbridge across the 3 track mainline that also goes through horseshoe curve …
